Join Mr. Charlie for a fun and engaging journey through the world of music in this after-school enrichment class designed for students in grades 1–5 at Riverview Elementary. In Music Appreciation, students will explore how music has evolved across time, cultures, and styles, and discover the stories behind the songs and artists they know and love.

Students will learn about music history in an age-appropriate and interactive way, including how different genres developed, what influenced composers and musicians, and how historical events, culture, and technology shaped the music we hear today. Through listening activities, discussions, games, and other outlets, students will build a deeper understanding of music as both an art form and a reflection of the world around us.

By the end of the course, students will be able to recognize different musical styles, describe basic influences on artists and genres, and develop a greater appreciation for the role music plays in everyday life and throughout history.
