Skills Include: jump into shoulder-deep water; floats; glides; recover from floats and glides to a vertical position; change direction while swimming; rotary breathing; tread water 15 seconds; and more. Exit Skills Assessments:- 1. Step from side into chest-deep water; tread water for 15 seconds; swim on front or back for 5 body lengths; then exit the water. 2. Move into a back float for 15-20 seconds; roll to front; then recover to a vertical position. 3. Push off and swim using combined arm and leg actions on front for 5 body lengths; roll onto back and float for 15-20 seconds; roll back onto front and continue swimming on front for 5 body lengths. Starting SoonAQL2.5-Level 2.5AquaticsNEW COURSE This in-house developed course is a bridging course between Level-2 and Level-3. This Level-2.5 course is for those that "passed" Level-2 but need to build up some strength and endurance to be better able to participate in Level-3 Skills Include: treading water with arms and legs; front glide and add arms & legs; back glide and add arms & legs; swim on front with arms out of the water; swim on back with arms out of the water; whip kick; and more. Strokes Include: front crawl, back crawl, elementary backstroke, and introduction to breaststroke. Exit Skills Assessments:- 1. Jump into deep water from the side and recover to the surface; tread or float for 45 seconds; level off and swim front crawl and/or elementary backstroke 15 yards; then exit the water. 2. Push off in a streamlined position and swim front crawl 10 yards; change position and direction as necessary and swim elementary backstroke 10 yards; then exit the water. Strokes Include: front crawl, back crawl, and elementary backstroke. Exit Skills Assessments:- 1. Jump into deep water from the side and recover to the surface; tread or float for 60 seconds; level off and swim front crawl and/or elementary backstroke 25 yards; then exit the water. 2. Push off in a streamlined position; swim front crawl for 15 yards; change position and direction as necessary and swim elementary backstroke for 15 yards; then exit the water. Strokes Include: front crawl, elementary backstroke, back crawl, breaststroke, and sidestroke. Exit Skills Assessments:- 1. Perform a feet-first entry into deep water and swim front crawl for 25 yards and then swim elementary backstroke for 25 yards. 2. Swim breaststroke for 15 yards and then swim back crawl for 15 yards. 3. Submerge and swim a distance of 3-5 body lengths underwater without hyperventilating; return to the surface; then exit the water. Strokes include: front crawl, elementary backstroke, back crawl, breaststroke, sidestroke, and butterfly. Exit Skills Assessments:- 1. Perform a shallow-angle dive into deep water; swim front crawl for 50 yards and then swim elementary backstroke 50 yards. 2. Swim breaststroke for 50 yards and then swim back crawl for 50 yards. AQSP-Semi Private LessonsAquaticsStudents (from Bobbers through Level-6) learn skills and strokes in smaller groups (typically just 1-2 per instructor). Academic Tutoring1- Academic, Health, & SafetyLori Wilson Grades K-5 Does your child need one-on-one academic or homework help, with hands-on learning a part of the mix? Do you just want to make sure your child is getting reading time in each day? Sign-up for Academic Tutoring! Academic Tutoring is a convenient and personalized tutoring program, designed to fit the needs and interests of each student. Students can receive instruction in reading skills (phonics, spelling, comprehension strategies, knowledge-building, vocabulary), writing skills, and math, while learning about social studies and science topics. Instruction will tailor appropriate strategies and engaging activities to each student. Academic Tutoring offers private 30 minute sessions. Please complete the registration to fill out your preferences, and a Community Education staff member will reach out to you directly regarding placement. Placement will begin based on enrollment size. Locations of tutoring will be determined based on the demand. Tuition for Academic Tutoring is $25 per session. Participants can customize their schedule with their desired number of sessions. If students opt for a full school year of sessions, a payment plan will be created. Sessions will be offered on a continual weekly basis, and will follow the school district calendar. There will be no sessions on non-school days and conference days. If you would like to continue tutoring beyond your scheduled end date, please contact Community Education at least one month prior to the end of your session to secure your same time. If Community Education is not contacted, your date and time will become available to the next interested student.
