ACT Prep Class1- Academic, Health, & SafetyACT Prep Classes Advantage Educational ProgramsGrades 10-12 The ACT Preparatory Courses are designed for those who wish to improve their test-taking skills and their overall scores on the college entrance exams. The course includes diagnostic testing, strategies for answering questions in all testing areas, instruction in time management, essay writing, and more. Youth can choose to attend classes located at Farmington High School, online, or at other area schools. In-School Course Students preferring the traditional teaching format with an in-person instructor should choose this course. It consists of four, three-hour classes, meeting at a specific location, one day a week. Students who miss a class will be provided with access to recorded virtual online instruction. Tuition for the 12-hour ACT in-person course is $180, with all class materials included. Students can also repeat the course online at any time, until they graduate, free of charge. Virtual Course This course is designed for students who prefer to prep for the ACT in a virtual classroom. Four, three-hour classes are taught live via zoom by an Advantage instructor. Tuition for this course is $180. Internet connection and a computer or tablet is required. This course can also be repeated at no extra charge. To enroll for the virtual course - select YW25-ACTVirtual930, YS25-ACTVirtual931, or SM26- Self-Paced Online Course This course is designed for students preferring to prepare for the ACT exam on their own schedule and at their own pace. Instruction is pre-recorded and provided online using videos and slides. Once enrolled, students may use the access code they receive to navigate through the course on their own timeline throughout the year. Tuition for this course is $80. To enroll for the online course - select YW25-ACTONLINE888. **Please note, students need a gmail account to access course information. School-issued email addresses are blocked. To create a free account click here. Once enrolled, students are sent an access code for their class via email and can begin preparing. Participants will receive more information regarding class access in their course registration confirmation. Babysitter Training Fall1- Academic, Health, & SafetySarah Erickson Babysitting Basics Course (Ages 11–15) Participants must be at least 11 years old by the date of the class. Gain the skills and confidence you need to become a trusted babysitter in your neighborhood! This fun, hands-on 4-hour course is designed for youth ages 11–15 and focuses on safety, responsibility, and professionalism. What you’ll learn: How to care for infants and children, including feeding, handling, and diapering Basic first aid and safety practices Understanding child behavior Fun and age-appropriate activity ideas Emergency procedures and how to respond Leadership and communication skills Tips on starting and growing your babysitting business Upon successful completion of the course, participants are awarded a Farmington Community Education Babysitter certificate. This certificate indicates that on the date of the class, our Community Education instructor verifies that the person met all of the course objectives and could demonstrate proficiency in the skills and topics covered in the class. Home Alone Training1- Academic, Health, & SafetyBrittany Hoppe Ages 7 years 6 months - 11 years Is your child ready to be home alone? Children should feel comfortable and safe when staying home alone, whether for an hour after school or several hours during the summer. Being trusted to stay home alone can be a positive experience for a child who is mature and well prepared. This class will address several topics relating to being home alone, including age guidelines, house rules, after school routines, activities they can do, safe habits, and more. Students attend this class independently. Parents are encouraged to review the take home information and discuss it with their child after class. Kindergarten Camp1- Academic, Health, & SafetyShannon Glynn, North Trail Kindergarten Teacher Youth entering Kindergarten in Fall of 2026 Experience some of the wonderful things we will do in kindergarten this year. We will balance learning and play through hands-on and interactive activities inside the classroom and school as well as outdoors! This is for students entering Kindergarten September 2026. Middle School Mental Health Camp1- Academic, Health, & SafetyThis one-day program offers middle school students the opportunity to learn vital mental health coping skills in a fun, safe, caring environment. Activities throughout the day include crafts, games, group discussions, movement, and a community service project. Students will take home information about mental health resources in their communities, conversation starters to use with friends and family, and skills to use in times of anxiety. Whether students want to prepare themselves for middle school and beyond by discussing a variety of relevant topics like bullying, friendship issues, self esteem, stress, and body image, or just have fun with peers in a cozy space, it is sure to be a great day! Rogue Robotics Programming Camp1- Academic, Health, & SafetyThe Rogue Robotics Programming Camp is a 3-day event aimed at introducing students grade 8-12 to the basics of programming through exciting and hands-on activities. Sponsored by Farmington High School’s Robotics team Rogue Robotics, and the University of Minnesota’s College of Science and Engineering, students will learn how to write code in C++, wire and program Arduino microcontrollers, and build a miniature robot that they will take home with them at the end of the camp.
