Academic Tutoring1- Academic, Health, & SafetyLori Wilson Grades K-5 Does your child need one-on-one academic or homework help, with hands-on learning a part of the mix? Do you just want to make sure your child is getting reading time in each day? Sign-up for Academic Tutoring! Academic Tutoring is a convenient and personalized tutoring program, designed to fit the needs and interests of each student. Students can receive instruction in reading skills (phonics, spelling, comprehension strategies, knowledge-building, vocabulary), writing skills, and math, while learning about social studies and science topics. Instruction will tailor appropriate strategies and engaging activities to each student. Academic Tutoring offers private 30 minute sessions. Please complete the registration to fill out your preferences, and a Community Education staff member will reach out to you directly regarding placement. Placement will begin based on enrollment size. Locations of tutoring will be determined based on the demand. Tuition for Academic Tutoring is $25 per session. Participants can customize their schedule with their desired number of sessions. If students opt for a full school year of sessions, a payment plan will be created. Sessions will be offered on a continual weekly basis, and will follow the school district calendar. There will be no sessions on non-school days and conference days. If you would like to continue tutoring beyond your scheduled end date, please contact Community Education at least one month prior to the end of your session to secure your same time. Drivers Education (2025-2026)1- Academic, Health, & SafetyA+ Driving School Students may start classroom driving lessons at age 14, take the Knowledge Test and obtain their Instruction Permit at age 15, and take the Road Test and obtain their Provisional License at age 16. To be eligible to take the Road Test, students must have had their Instruction Permit for a minimum of six months. Registration for A+ Driving School. Click here to go to the site to register. Once you go to the A+ Driving website you will then select in-person classes, virtual, or self-paced online. If you are in need of Fee Assistance, please use the link provided below to apply, before registering for a class. The Driver's Education Program is divided into two phases: Classroom Phase This phase includes the required 30 hours of classroom instruction that prepares the student to take the Minnesota permit test and to take on the responsibility of driving. If a lesson is missed, a make-up lesson can be arranged with the office at either the next Farmington session or at another A+ session. This portion can be taken virtually or in-person. Behind-the-Wheel PhaseAfter students pass the permit test, they are required to complete six hours of driving lessons. The lessons are provided in three, two-hour lessons. The lessons are one-on-one instruction with instructors licensed through the MN Dept. of Public Safety. Students can be picked up from and dropped off at home, school or work. Detailed information about scheduling the behind-the-wheel lessons will be provided by A+. Please note: you can only schedule these one at a time and they may be booked out a month or so. Can't Make Every Lesson? If you miss a lesson, you are responsible for making up that exact lesson number. You can attend any A+ classroom or any community education program to make up a missed lesson. Please call A+ the office the day before so we can add the student to the attendance roster. Winter Guard7- Art, Music, and TheaterRian Mahoney Grades 8-12 Winter Guard is a performing arts activity with elements of dance and theater combining to create a competitive show that will be performed throughout the Twin Cities. In Color Guard, you will get to learn skills in different traditional forms of dance consisting of a mix between Ballet and Contemporary, as well as equipment skills where you will learn skills in Flag, Rifle and Saber. All while learning new forms of theatrical performance with a strong focus on projection. Interested participants need to partake in Placement Day, in order to be on the team. Placements will take place on either October 29th, October 30th, and November 2nd from 5:00-8:00 pm, at Meadowview Elementary. Program tuition will be priced once a final roster of participants is put together after placements. Interested participants should go to all placement opportunities if possible. Participants will start the day of placements with some basics training in dance and flag, then you will learn a flag routine that will be similar to what we will be performing in the final show. ACT Prep Class1- Academic, Health, & SafetyACT Prep ClassesAdvantage Educational ProgramsGrades 10-12 The ACT Preparatory Courses are designed for those who wish to improve their test-taking skills and their overall scores on the college entrance exams. The course includes diagnostic testing, strategies for answering questions in all testing areas, instruction in time management, essay writing, and more. Youth can choose to attend classes located at Farmington High School, online, or at other area schools. In-School Course Students preferring the traditional teaching format with an in-person instructor should choose this course. It consists of four, three-hour classes, meeting at a specific location, one day a week. Students who miss a class will be provided with access to recorded virtual online instruction. Tuition for the 12-hour ACT in-person course is $180, with all class materials included. Campfire CookingIGNITE Non-School Day CampsEco Elsa Ages 9-15 Kids will take their fire skills to the next level by not only learning how to make fire and different fire structures but the science of using fire to cook things too! This class will teach all the basics like s’mores and tinfoil packets up to more advanced skills like dutch oven baking and spit roasting over the fire. Your campfire chefs will know how to make full course meals by the end of this class in addition to how to make a fire and manage it safely. We are working hard to have recipes for all dietary needs that are things kids will enjoy cooking and will be using a lot of raw and unprocessed ingredients and also have vegan, gluten-free, and nut-free options for most of the recipes we make. Youth Horse Camps6- Other Sports & Recreation ProgramsCornerstone on the Vermillion Instructor: Michelle Michaud Ages 4-17 Do you love horses? Our camps are all horses, all the time! Spend time bonding with some incredible show horses. All abilities are welcome to join us for an action packed camp and learn western, English, and bareback riding, horsemanship, groundwork, and training. Choose to attend one day or both days! Participants begin their days with horsemanship skill development, followed by horse training. Connecting & partnering with the horses is emphasized throughout each day. Riding multiple horses throughout camp with emphasis on rider safety, core, seat and legs. Each day refreshing all skills learned the previous day.
