Special Olympics Minnesota - Bocce (Ages 8+)

Bocce

The basic principle of bocce is to roll a bocce ball closest to the target ball, which is called a pallina. Bocce provides people the opportunity to have social contact, develop physically and to gain self-confidence.

We offer competitive opportunities for individuals with disabilities to participate in activities based on Special Olympics guidelines. The programs are developed in partnership with Community Education and the Tigers, a Special Olympics of Minnesota team, serving individuals aged 8 and older. Additionally, we provide year-round sports training and competitive opportunities for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, along with some unified programs with typical volunteers. Through athletic, health, and leadership initiatives, we aim to support individuals with intellectual disabilities in fostering personal growth, enriching their communities, and making a positive impact in the wider world.

Participants will be put in a division by Special Olympics Minnesota, based on ability level and age to give them a competitive experience.

Unified Athletes

This sport offers a Unified option. Participants without intellectual disabilities can participate and compete on the same team. This is a voluntary role. Unified Athletes must complete a training found online, by clicking here. Unified Athletes ages 18 and older must complete a background check. 

Regionals and State

Regional and State Competitions are optional for participants. In order to attend state, participants must compete in Regionals. More information will be shared at practice. 

Regionals will be TBD, location West St. Paul Dome.

State will be held on August 14-15, location M Health Fairview Sports Center Woodbury.
