About the Coach: Tharen Johnson FHS Varsity Boys Basketball Head CoachCoach Johnson has been with the varsity basketball program at farmington High School and coaching summer basketball camps since 2005. He served as a varsity assistant for 12 seasons and as head varsity coach since 2017. In that stretch he helped build farmington boys basketball from a one win team in 2005 to a conference championship in 2009, its first conference title since 1962. During Coach Johnson’s tenure in the program, farmington boys basketball had its top two winning-est seasons in history recording 20 victories in 2009 and 19 wins in 2014. Johnson helped develop four players who went on to be 1,000 point career scorers as well as many players who went on to play at the collegiate level.

TIGER SUMMER TENNIS PROGRAMS The FHS Tennis coaches are excited to offer a youth tennis program this summer. Join the head coaches of the FHS boys and girls varsity tennis teams to learn new skills and further develop your tennis game. This program emphasizes individual instruction in all phases of the game of tennis. Core skills such as serves, volleys, groundstrokes, and overheads will be taught via a combination of drills, games, and match play. Singles and doubles strategy will also be emphasized. All instruction will be geared toward each player’s ability whether they are an experienced player or trying the sport for the first time. Grades 1-12 Storybook Theater presents: Twice Upon A Time “Once Upon a Time…” That’s how every great fairytale begins. But what happens when The Storybook falls into the wrong hands? What if someone wasn’t so happy with their “happily ever after” and decided to rewrite the ending? Instead of ruling the high seas, what if Captain Hook took up crocheting? What if Jack and Jill were too afraid to go up the hill? And what if Sleeping Beauty could no longer sleep? Poor Rip Van Winkle has been guarding The Storybook for far too long. When he finally wakes, the book has vanished—and the world of fairytales is turned upside down. Joined by his loyal companions, the Seven Dwarfs, Rip embarks on a quest to set things right. Along the way, they encounter a host of familiar characters: Mother Goose and the quirky residents of the Shoe Inn, the Evil Queen and her band of Bad Apples, Captain Hook and the Pirates of Neverland, and of course the Fairy Godmother and all of the young royals at Pixie Dust’s School for Girls and Boys. Can Rip and his friends return The Storybook to its rightful place before the stories are changed forever? Day 3 and 4 everyone attends the entire rehearsal. Rehearsal times are 10:00am- 2:15 p.m. Monday through Thursday. On Friday, rehearsal will begin late afternoon and will last right up to show time. We will also go over refining your audio using Audacity. Edit your video, add transitions, and insert a soundtrack. Then, share your finished video with the world. Wedding Dance Rescue Your wedding day is nearing, and you don’t know how to dance. Not to worry! This fun two-hour lesson will teach you and your partner everything you need to know to make your first dance much more interesting than shifting awkwardly from side to side. Learn an easy entrance, classic steps, simple sways, fancy twirls, and a romantic dip! Then, capture it on your camera to continue practicing up until the wedding day. Master Jeff Wood This self-defense seminar will assist participants in gaining the strategies and the prowess to protect themselves from attack situations which are common and unique to women. The students will acquire effective preemptive tactics, escape maneuvers, physical techniques, and proficiency in utilizing self-defense devices, to end assaults quickly. A strong emphasis will be placed on empowering the mind, as it is the preeminent tool in prevailing in any attack. Master Jeff Wood is the head instructor.
