Special Olympics Minnesota - Bocce (Ages 8+)Special Olympics MinnesotaSpecial Olympics Minnesota Athletes The basic principle of bocce is to roll a bocce ball closest to the target ball, which is called a pallina. Bocce provides people the opportunity to have social contact, develop physically and to gain self-confidence. Participants will be put in a division by Special Olympics Minnesota, based on ability level and age to give them a competitive experience. Additional paperwork is required in order to participate in this sport. The Head of Delegation will reach out to athletes after registration with these forms. It's played on a badminton sized court with a slightly modified tennis net. Players use paddles, and a plastic ball similar to a tennis ball, and can be played as singles or doubles. It may have a silly name, but it's great exercise, easy to learn, and lots of fun! Additional paperwork is required in order to participate in this sport. Every team aims in scoring as many runs possible, against the opponents by striking the ball with a specific bat. Pitches in softball are thrown underhand. Previous experience playing adaptive softball is helpful, as players should have basic knowledge of the sport without one-on-one support. This will be coach pitch or unified teams. Participants will be placed in a division by the Special Olympics Minnesota, based on ability level and age to give them a competitive experience.
